The Right Questions, Right from the Start

At Bloch & Whitehouse, P.A., we know you have a lot of questions when you bring us your family law matter: Where will my kids live? How will this affect them? How much will my case cost? How long will it take? We believe that the more you know about the legal road ahead, the more comfortable you will be traveling it, and the better decisions you will make along the way. For those reasons, it's important to us to take the time to answer your questions.

When you retain us as your attorneys, we have many questions for you, as well. Perhaps the most important one is this: "What would a successful outcome look like to you?"

Many attorneys don't bother to ask this question. And many clients, surprisingly, have never taken the time to think about the answer. Often, the recent past has been so painful and stressful that they haven't had a chance to imagine what they want their future to look like. But the future is the only thing we have the opportunity to shape.

By taking the time to listen to you and ask you the right questions, we can help you identify your goals for a future in which your current legal crisis is behind you. And once we understand your goals for your family, we can start developing a plan to help you achieve them.

Charting a Course, Traveling it with You

There's an old saying: "When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a nail." Similarly, for lawyers who are trained only to litigate, every case looks like it has to go to trial. The problem with that rationale, especially in family law, is that trials are often painful and expensive. In fact, the vast majority of family law cases settle. Some settle early, some settle at the last minute on the courthouse steps. Some couples are able to reach agreement without outside help, some need a lot of support and guidance. And. of course, there are those cases that don't settle at all, and need a judge to make the decisions at trial. However your case concludes, we believe you should move purposefully toward resolution, not arrive there by chance or someone else's whims.

Ashley Bloch and Cortney Whitehouse are skilled in a variety of dispute resolution options, including early neutral evaluation, mediation, Collaborative Law, and litigation. We explain all of these options to you and explore with you how they might work in your particular case. When you understand all your options, you have the ability to choose the one that will best meet your identified needs and preserve your resources.

Divorce and other family law concerns can make your life feel out of control. By giving you information and the power to choose how your case will proceed, we put the control back in your hands. Yet we always remain accessible to you, offering guidance, answering questions. It's important to us to know your case inside and out, and to make sure you can reach your attorney--not just a staff person--when you need to.

At Bloch & Whitehouse, P.A., we look forward to traveling your legal road with you, from helping you identify your goals for the future to making them a reality. We invite you to contact us at (952)224-9977 to schedule a consultation.
